Dr. Chiranjeevi began his acting career with Punadirallu (Foundation Stones) though Pranam Khareedu (The Price of life) in 1977 was the first to release. He went on to act in over 154 films Including 3 in Hindi, 3 in Tamil and 2 in Kannada so far.

 

Dr. Chiranjeevi gained recognition as a Complete Star for his superlative performances, heroic looks, excellent command over dance, perfect comedy timing and above all a dedication towards his work.

 

On one hand he earned appreciation of the critics and the class audience with socially conscious scripts like Subha Lakha, Swayam Krushi, Rudra Veena, Apathbandhavudu, Tagore and on the other, he won over the masses with Chantabbai, Khaidi, Jagadeka veerudu Athiloka Sundari, GangLeader, Gharanamogudu, Mutha Mesthri, Hitler, Master, Indra, Shankar Dada, Tagore, Stalin, Khaidi No. 150 and many more...

In a career spanning over four decades, Chiranjeevi was hailed as the ‘Man of the Masses’ and was listed among the ‘Top 50 Power People of India’.

 

Dr. Chiranjeevi chose to channelise the collective energy of his fan following towards social causes. The Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust’s (started in 1998) great work in the area of eye donations and blood donation has earned a lot of praise. He also campaigned extensively against Child Labor.” During the Covid19 pandemic, an oxygen bank was established to rescue of patients who were in need of life saving oxygen. For easy access the oxygen banks were established in 44 centers across both the Telugu states.

He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Andhra University in the same year.

Achievements in the area of social work:

 

  • 30 years of excellence in Telugu cinema has fetched Chiranjeevi a huge fan following and transformed him into one of the most popular persons in Andhra Pradesh. Chiranjeevi chose to give a positive direction to his fan base to become a force for the social good.

 

  • Dr. Chiranjeevi started Chiranjeevi Trust on October 2nd, 1998. The trust was set up with Blood and Eye Donation wings. Chiranjeevi’s devoted fans took this movement to great heights and are relentlessly working towards spreading awareness in the fields of Blood and Eye Donation.

 

  • Chiranjeevi Blood Bank contributed more than 57,000 units on its own particularly to the people Below Poverty line. The Blood Donation wing has saved upto 3,500 lives across Andhra Pradesh by providing life saving blood.

 

  • While the state requires an estimated 5 lakh units of blood per year, the awareness created by Chiranjeevi Blood Bank, pushed the availability to around 3 lakh 50 thousand units, which is a rare feat in itself.

 

  • Chiranjeevi Eye Bank has been behind 1460 successful eye implants. It also works towards education the masses on the need of eye donation.

 

  • An appeal for eye donation and blood donation is part of every print of a Chiranjeevi film. Dr. Chiranjeevi also ensured an unprecedented amount of space in the news and electronic media for these causes.

 

  • Dr. Chiranjeevi takes more pride in the Knowledge that his Blood Bank saved someone’s life than the fact that his film has gone for a silver Jubilee.

 

  • Not limiting himself to the fantasy filled world of films, Chiranjeevi has involved himself in various public welfare activities and acted as a socially responsible citizen… this is apart from his own Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust activities. Once convinced about the authenticity and motive of a campaign, Chiranjeevi has always associated with it.

 

  • In 2002, Dr. Chiranjeevi became brand ambassador for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and extensively campaigned against Child Labour. He featured in short films as part of the ‘International Programmee on the Elimination of Child Labour.

  • Dr. Chiranjeevi pledged his support to the Heroes Project co-chaired by Hollywood actor Richard Gere. The project  works for spreading awareness towards HIV AIDS in different parts of the world.

  • The Andhra Pradesh Government has awarded ‘Best Voluntary Blood Bank Service Award’ to Chiranjeevi Blood Bank consecutively for Five years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 even as 161 blood banks vied for the award.

 

  • Apart from donating fund to tsunami devastated Tamilnadu, Dr. Chiranjeevi also donated a generous amount to then Chief Minister Late. Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy, to help rehabilitation and early recovery of the tsunami affected areas in Andhra Pradesh.

 

  • Dr. Chiranjeevi donated liberally to the relief works during the cyclone disaster in Andhra Pradesh, twice, during the regime of Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu. He has made numerous donations to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

  • Inspired by the call of Hon’ble President APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Chiranjeevi took part in Lead India 2020 Foundation held at Lal Bahadur Stadium, Hyderabad.

 

  • On the request of UNICEF,  Dr. Chiranjeevi campaigned to help protect children by eradicating Polio virus from the face of Andhra Pradesh.

 

  • Did motivational campaigns on eye donation on the occasion of Eye Donors Day along with His Excellency Governor Rangarajan at Sarojini Devi Eye hospital.

 

  • Even during the Latoor earthquake incident he motivated his fans to provide relief and assistance to the victims.

  • Aided the heart transplant operation of Pakistani girl, Batool Hasan at Global Hospital, Hyderabad. The recovered rejoicing kid’s farewell was celebrated in the presence of Chiranjeevi and the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Late Dr. Y.S.Rajsekhar Reddy.

 

  • To inspire youngsters on traffic awareness Dr.Chiranjeevi has taken guard of honour from young commandos in Traffic Awareness Camps held by Andhra Pradesh Traffic Police. He always emphasizes that a right guidance to the children of today will make them best citizens for tomorrow.

 

  • He inspired the police department to conduct several blood Donation camps. One such exemplary blood donation campaign was conducted by AP Police and Greyhounds.

 

  • Dr. Chiranjeevi‘s partcipation in 'Kadapotsav’, a cultural and heritage festival held in Kadapa District helped highlight various tradional arts.

 

  • On 9th September 2002, Chiranjeevi was felicitated with ‘SAMMAN AWARD’ for the Highest Income Tax Payer-Profession for the assessment year 1999-2000 by the Minister of State for Finance, Government of India.

 

  • In 1988, when the cotton farmers of Andhra pradesh committed suicides, Dr.Chiranjeevi helped their families and provided Financial relief to them.

 

  • Apart from his personal donations, he always motivated his fans to rush to the place of calamity to provide immediate relief. The force behind him always was the first to mobilize help in devastating situations. Inspired by his vision, Dr.Chiranjeevi’s fans were one of the first to visit Gujarat in the wake of the devastating earth quake, and personally provide relief to the earthquake victims.

 

  • Inspired people with realistic presentation of troubles of blind children in National Seminar on eye Donation along with His Excellency Governor Surjeet Sing Barnala.

 

  • As the representative of rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, Honored celebrities of Andhra Pradesh in literary and cultural evening along with Her Excellency Rama Devi, Governor of Karnataka.

 

  • Dr. Chiranjeevi made donations to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and Chief Minister Relief Fund whenever national calamities  occurred.

  • Be it as an Actor, a Philanthropist or a People’s leader Dr. Chiranjeevi has always excelled and continues to excel in his chosen field and touch millions of lives across India and world.

 

  • His comeback film Khaidi No. 150 became a stupendous success at the box office making it clear that his popularity was intact. 

  • This was followed by Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy  which is inspired by the life of the first Indian independence activist from Telugu region Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh who remained a unsung hero until the film.
